From the beginning, the UBR-16 upper and lower receivers have always been manufactured to the highest standards, even exceeding MIL-SPEC, from forged 7075-T6 aluminum not stamped or billet aluminum. In the X-2 we introduced a hybrid UmbraTec coating that was improved upon later.
The X-2 also introduced the first sighting of the highly precise proprietary QPQ Melonite treatment that bonded with the metal on the barrel at the molecular level.
Within the 7075-T6 forged aluminum lower receiver is a self-lubricating three and half pound pull trigger group assembly, made of forged aluminum and hardened steal. This represented a 50% reduction in trigger pull typically associated with MIL-SPEC rifles and is present in current UBR variants.
The X-2 featured an ambidextrous safety selector, over-sized magazine release and hardened extended take-down pins so the interior of the weapon can be accessed quickly with gloves on. Yet another element that made it into the final product.
Within the 7075-T6 forged aluminum upper receiver is a standard forward assist mechanism and a UmbraTec coated low mass bolt assembly with a titanium firing pin. The ambidextrous charging handle has been coated with UmbraTec to reduce friction and jamming.
